A- Let's pay attention to the verbs in these sentences from the text

“Tom`s Day” in activity 11. (Prestemos atención a los verbos en

estas oraciones del texto “Tom`s Day” de la actividad 11)

Tom playS tennis with his sister.

They talk and listen to music.

Why does the verb in the first sentence have a “s” and the others don't?

(¿Por qué el verbo de la primera oración tiene una “s” al final y los otros

no?

This is because the sentences are in SIMPLE PRESENT, this means the

depending on the subject, the verbs need an “s”. Look at this example

with the verb “play”. (Ésto es porque las oraciones están en PRESENTE

SIMPLE, esto significa que dependiendo de la persona, los verbos

necesitarán llevar una “s” al final. Veamos este ejemplo con el verbo

jugar.)

USE (USO-CUÁNDO USAMOS EL PRESENTE SIMPLE):

We use simple present to talk about ROUTINES or FACTS which are

always true (Usamos el presente simple para hablar de RUTINAS o

HECHOS)

For example (por ejemplo)

-Tom gets up at 10 (Tom se levanta a las 10- RUTINA)

-Tom and his sister live together (Tom y su hermana viven juntos-ES

Today we are going to continue practicing simple present for routines

and facts with the three activities below. (Hoy vamos a seguir

practicando el presente simple para rutinas y hechos de la realidad con las

tres actividades a continuación).

1) En la primera actividad deben completar las oraciones con las

palabras que les dan y además, poner los verbos que están entre

paréntesis en presente simple (sólo afirmativo).

2) En la segunda deben poner los verbos entre paréntesis en presente

simple (afirmativo y negativo).

3) En la tercera tienen que mirar las imágenes para corregir las

oraciones que están debajo. Primero las pasan a negativo:

Ejemplo: He gets up at 8 o'clock.

He doesn't get up at 8 o ́clock.

y luego ponen la información correcta según la imagen:

He gets up at 7.

Read the text “Tom ́s Day” and decide if the statements are TRUE or FALSE. (Leer el texto “Tom`s Day” y decidir si las afirmaciones son VERDADERAS o FALSAS).

On Sunday, Tom gets up at 10 o'clock. Then he reads his

newspaper in the kitchen. He has breakfast at 11.30 and then

he telephones his mother in Scotland.

In the afternoon, at 1.00, Tom plays tennis with his sister and

after that, they eat dinner in a restaurant. At 6.00, Tom

swims for one hour and then he goes by bike to his brother ́s

house. They talk and listen to music.

Tom watches television in the evening and drinks a glass of

warm milk. He goes to bed at 11.30.
